15.5. Layer Experimentation and Surreal Manipulation

Experimenting with LAYERS (again) to create surreal pieces of art:

These images were my most successful.

I experimented with layering and slowly deteriorating the image by adding more and more, slowly.
I feel that it creates an interesting series of images that I would like to display alongside one another, so that my viewers can follow the "decay" of the image and see how it becomes more and more surreal.

Of all of these Images, I found that THIS:
was the most successful of them all. A peer described it as "psychedelic" which I loved, and agree with.

Less is more in this case. There is plenty of distortion in this piece alone. The girl's eyes still command the piece, so her identity is intact to a degree - she appears to be looking up at her distorted surroundings, which is immersive and gives narrative to the piece.

I enjoy the image above because of the surreal, alienlike colour scheme. It adds a new dimension of surrealism to the piece without the need to further distort it.

This piece is barely recognisable, by this point. The figure is lost in the patterns and colours, and it would be hard to see where she was at all if you hadn't seen the previous imagery beforehand.

I enjoy this piece because the pose is still very visible in the piece, despite the heavy distortion. There are pops of warmth amongst the dark cool colour scheme.
You can't see her face, nor eyes, but you can see the profile of her face. It is enigmatic, and forces the viewer to wonder who this woman is.
The piece is very moody, because of the deep colour scheme.

This image is a compilation of other imagery. It is surreal, and perhaps uncanny, because there appears to be two of the exact same woman, almost in the exact same pose.

I used photoshop to combine the two, and the effect given is very surreal.  The background appears to have double images, too, as if it was created for 3D glasses.
